What's New
Officials from Connecticut and other Northeastern states are negotiating an
agreement on whether, and how much, to cut global warming pollution from power
plants. ConnPIRG staff are working to convince state officials to cut global
warming pollution from power plants 25 percent by the year 2020. This summer
we are launching our Stopping Global Warming Starts Now campaign to urge Governor
Rell to provide leadership on this issue by supporting deep cuts in global warming
pollution.

Brief Summary
Despite what industry
apologists and skeptics say, global warming is real, it's happening now, and
most importantly, it can be solved. Unfortunately, polluting industries and
their allies in the Bush administration refuse to acknowledge the severity of
the problem, much less come to terms with solving it.
To solve the problem of
global warming, we must start right here and now.
The good news is that we
can cut global warming pollution from Connecticut sources and led the way for
New England and the Nation. Governor Rell can make this happen by requiring
cuts in power plant pollution 25 percent by the year 2020. Whether or not she
acts depends very much on what happens this summer. More.
