A new report from ConnPIRG Education Fund and Frontier Group ranks American cities on how many new technology-enabled services and tools they have to meet transportation needs. It finds that Hartford ranks 61st  among the nation’s 70 largest cities.

House Sends Transformative Recycling Bill To Governor's Desk

With a 144-0 vote, the House followed the Senate in passing Senate Bill 27, AAC Connecticut's Recycling and Materials Management Strategy.  The Senate passed the bill unanimously on Friday.

Connecticut made a conscious decision 40 years ago to transform its waste management by phasing out landfills and investing in incinerators.  However, the decision we face today is not between burning or burying our waste -- it is between seeing the material we throw away as waste, or seeing it as material with a market value if handled properly.  A new bill introduced by Gov. Dannel P. Malloy gives us the opportunity to transform again,  from managing waste to managing material, moving us closer to zero waste.

This week the CFPB ordered Bank of America to return $727 million to credit card customers for deceptive marketing and unfair billing practices.

Today, ConnPIRG joined AARP CT and the Connecticut Citizen Action Group to call on lawmakers to pass strong reforms to the broken competitive electric supplier market.
